With this simple AI recipe, you can set up automated recurring summaries with ChatGPT Tasks, letting you instantly absorb new insights without lifting a finger.

Ingredients:

• Paid ChatGPT account (any tier)

• An industry or topic you’d like to stay up-to-date on (e.g., technology, marketing, finance, etc)

• A clear prompt for summarization (included below)

Instructions:

1. Open ChatGPT: Navigate to ChatGPT and start a new chat

2. Access Tasks: At the top of the page, click the model dropdown and select ‘GPT-4o with scheduled tasks’

3. Create a New Task: In the chat box, enter a clear, reusable prompt that includes the requested frequency and what you'd like to learn:

   Summarize a new AI breakthrough in simple terms every day.

   or

   Every hour, teach me one fascinating fact about world history with key details.

4. Sit Back and Learn: Each time your task runs, ChatGPT will generate and deliver a new summary automatically. You'll receive an alert by email and/or app notification (depending on your settings) when it runs.

• Start the prompt with "In one minute" to quickly test the output. Example: "In one minute, share the current weather in Denver." Then, you can quickly review and update the prompt as needed.

Limitations to Keep in Mind

Limitations you might run into:

• ChatGPT has a limit on 10 active tasks at any time. If you reach this limit, ChatGPT will not be able to create a new task unless you pause or delete an existing active task or it completes per its scheduled time.

• Tasks in ChatGPT are currently in beta, and the following features and tools are not yet supported:

  • Voice chats

  • File Uploads

  • GPTs

• Tasks in ChatGPT use GPT-4o, so your ChatGPT plan’s usage limits will also apply to tasks. As of Feb 1, 2025, Plus users will be able to send up to 80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4o and up to 40 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4. We may reduce the limit during peak hours to keep GPT-4 and GPT-4o accessible to the widest number of people. The GPT-4 and GPT-4o message caps for a user in a ChatGPT Team workspace is higher than that of ChatGPT Plus. The GPT-4 and GPT-4o message caps for a Pro user is virtually unlimited. Please note that unused messages do not accumulate (i.e. if you wait 6 hours, you will not have 80 messages available to use for the next 3 hours on GPT-4).
